M82, also known as M82 precision plate, is a type of aluminium plate that comes with a guaranteed tolerance on thickness. This consistency allows it to be machined very efficiently with minimal material wastage, and there is often no need to adjust machine set-ups between batches.
To achieve this level of precision, the plate undergoes levelling and a controlled stretch operation during production. The alloy used is 6082 (T651), so many of the physical and mechanical properties are shared between the two.

M82 comes in a linished surface finish on the top and bottom surfaces which do not require any additional finishings or treatments. The linished finish is highly suitable for anodising.
See our Finishing Processes page for further information on services that we can facilitate.
Here are some example stock sizes for M82 in the UK. Please note we do not supply stock material, the information provided is purely for design and research purposes.
Plate sizes up to a maximum of 3020mm x 1520mm (can be cut to size).
Thickness of 6.35mm to 50.8mm.
Some properties may vary according to thickness. These figures are indicative only and provided for research purposes.
M82 can be a highly cost effective solution for components that need to be machined in aluminium 6082 plate. Machining can be extremely efficient and there is very little wastage, if at all.
M82 is specifically manufactured to maintain stability during machining operations.
