What is aluminium 6063?

6063 aluminium is a medium-strength alloy widely used for architectural applications due to its excellent surface finish and corrosion resistance. It is most commonly supplied in the 6063T6 temper, which has been solution heat-treated and artificially aged to enhance its mechanical properties. A higher strength variant, 6063A, is also available.

This alloy is typically found in extruded forms such as bars, rods, tubes, and standard profiles. When a standard extrusion—such as a right-angled or square box section—meets the needs of an application, 6063T6 is a popular and efficient choice.

However, if custom dimensions or higher mechanical performance are required, consider alternatives like 6082T6 aluminium or 7075T6 aluminium, which provide greater tensile strength and are more suitable for demanding engineering applications.
